What is enuresis? How is it treated?

When a baby is born, the family is very happy and brings a lot of pleasure work, feeding ah, bathing the baby ah, changing diapers, as the baby grows up, parents find that the baby sleeps after the diaper is still very wet, even after 3 years old still have to use diapers to sleep well. However, other babies don’t use diapers, why do our babies still need them? Newborn babies urinate about 20 times a day in the first year, and as they get older and their bladder capacity increases, they urinate about 11 times a day at age 3, and they may urinate 0-1 times at night, but they do it on their own. If the urination is involuntary, and if it is more than 2 times a week and lasts for more than 6 months, it is considered enuresis. There are many causes of enuresis, usually not a single factor, such as genetic factors, developmental delays, sleep factors, environmental factors, psychological factors, urinary tract pathology, etc. When a child has symptoms of enuresis, parents are advised to go to the urology department of a children’s hospital for a routine examination, such as physical examination by a doctor, urinary routine, ultrasound, and sacral film to rule out organic lesions. If there is an organic lesion, the cause should be treated first. Once diagnosed with enuresis, parents should avoid several misconceptions: 1. 2, ignore psychological treatment or do not take into account the child’s psychology, in front of other people to count the child, to give the child’s a self-esteem. 3, rely solely on drugs. 4.Incidental use of medication, parents’ independent use of medication, may cause other injuries because of the side effects of medication. Treatment of enuresis: Treatment of enuresis includes medication, habit change, behavior therapy, psychotherapy, training, as well as herbal treatment and acupuncture treatment. 1. Parents should not scold and blame the child for this, but should be more caring and considerate. 2.Limit the intake of water after evening and urinate before bedtime. 3.Wake up the child at night and gradually reduce the number of wake-up calls, do the regular urination, and combine with herbal treatment. 4, if by the above methods can not improve, to consider drug treatment, commonly used drugs choline drugs, these drugs may relapse after discontinuation, so gradually reduce the amount to discontinuation.
