What causes intestinal obstruction?

There are many triggers of intestinal obstruction, the most common is intra-abdominal adhesions, this is often a history of previous trauma, surgery, etc., the majority of adhesive intestinal obstruction can be relieved by conservative treatment, and only a small portion needs to be operated on again; others include intestinal obstruction caused by infectious diseases, when there is a serious infection in the abdominal cavity, there will be a lot of inflammatory oozing or purulent oozing, and these will lead to intestinal paralysis, which will cause the intestinal obstruction. The patient may show nausea, vomiting, and abdominal distension, and needs to be treated with aggressive antibiotics and, if necessary, removal of the tissue causing the infection, such as removal of the appendix and removal of the gallbladder. Sometimes it is also caused by tumor factors, such as the growth of large polyps in the intestine, or even malignant tumors. It is necessary to actively improve the relevant examination, polypectomy or radical resection of the tumor, and then regular follow-up. There are also a small number of patients with intestinal obstruction caused by external growths pressing on the intestines, which need to be actively resected. Therefore, if intestinal obstruction occurs, you need to go to the hospital as soon as possible to clarify the cause of the disease.
