What’s with the holes in the tonsils?

It is normal to have many holes on top of the tonsils, mostly referred to as tonsillar crypts. Tonsillar crypts are free surfaces located on the medial-oral side of the tonsils in the form of shallow, branching blind tubes, ranging from about 6 to 20. When the tonsils are not inflamed, the crypts are relatively shallow and can’t hold anything, and when the tonsils are enlarged, the crypts will become deeper and their capacity will become larger, especially when repeated episodes of tonsillitis lead to fibrosis of the crypts and obstruction of drainage, and the caseous material formed by detached epithelium and food debris accumulates in the crypts to form tonsillar stones, which is also one of the etiologies of halitosis. If you find a lot of holes in the tonsils, you can actively consult a doctor for a systematic examination, and follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment.
