Can low-grade gliomas be cured?

Whether a low-grade glioma can be cured is related to the location and size of the tumor, etc. If the low-grade glioma tumor is well located, the prognosis is better after surgical resection, and a cure is possible.
Glioma is the most common malignant tumor in the skull. According to the degree of malignancy of glioma, it can be divided into low-grade glioma and high-grade glioma. Low-grade glioma has a lower degree of malignancy and generally has a better prognosis than high-grade glioma.
Once diagnosed, low-grade gliomas should be treated aggressively with surgery. If the location is good, in the frontal lobe and temporal lobe, surgery can be taken as early as possible to enlarge the resection, and with radiotherapy, the prognosis is better, and it is possible to be cured.
If the low-grade glioma is in a deeper location and is poorly demarcated from the surrounding blood vessels and other tissues, it is difficult to remove it completely by surgery and there is a risk of recurrence after surgery.
Low-grade gliomas should be treated promptly after a clear diagnosis, even if a cure cannot be achieved, it can still prolong the patient’s survival period and improve the patient’s quality of life.
