What is the cause of dilated main pancreatic duct?

Dilatation of the main pancreatic duct is not uncommon clinically, and generally causes of main pancreatic duct dilatation may be biliary system tumors, pancreatic head tumors, biliary system stones, pancreatic duct stones, and inflammatory lesions, which usually require perfection of enhanced MRI or MRCP to help diagnose and find out the specific cause. If the main pancreatic duct dilatation is caused by inflammation, it may resolve after aggressive anti-inflammatory treatment of inflammation. If the dilatation of the pancreatic duct is caused by a stone, the obstruction caused by the stone needs to be actively removed. If the dilated pancreatic duct is caused by a tumor, active surgical treatment is needed to relieve the obstruction. Therefore, the specific cause of the disease must be identified in order to provide symptomatic treatment and address the underlying cause.
