Is back pain a novel coronavirus?

Back pain is not necessarily caused by novel coronavirus infection. Patients with novel pneumonia due to novel coronavirus infection tend to have a dry cough, fever, malaise, chest tightness, shortness of breath, or even dyspnea as their main manifestations. Of course, some patients with novel pneumonia may also have posterior back pain due to secondary bacterial infection, pleuritic chest pain or the formation of a small amount of pleural effusion. Sometimes the pain in the back is caused by severe coughing that pulls the muscles of the chest wall, or by pain in the intercostal nerves, which also needs to be differentiated accordingly. In the case of back pain, further chest radiographs and other tests are needed. When viral lung formation is seen and the patient has a history of epidemiology, early nucleic acid testing for novel coronavirus should be performed to rule out the formation of novel pneumonia. There are many causes of back pain, and they should be identified accordingly.
