Is there a difference in the results between gross and rapid pathology?

Rapid pathology and gross pathology results are not 100% the same, but are usually consistent. Rapid pathology, also known as rapid frozen section, is a way of determining pathology during surgery, and the results of this pathology are used to determine the final method of surgery. Due to the small amount of pathologic tissue examined and the fact that the results are available in less than 30 minutes, the accuracy rate is usually around 95%. Therefore, the results may not always agree with the final results of the major pathology. Major pathology generally takes 5 to 7 days to produce results, but it is more accurate and comprehensive. The rapid pathology report, on the other hand, has certain limitations and errors, but usually the final pathology diagnosis is consistent with the rapid pathology diagnosis report. When the test results are abnormal, it is necessary to actively consult the doctor and follow the doctor’s instructions for reasonable treatment.
