Although ordinary astigmatism can lead to vision loss, simple 400-degree astigmatism will not lead to blindness. If there are complications such as endophthalmitis associated with non-existing cone cornea, untimely treatment may lead to blindness.
Astigmatism is caused by uneven refraction of the cornea and other refractive media, higher degrees of astigmatism can lead to significant vision loss, but generally does not lead to blindness, even if the 400 degrees of astigmatism, corrected by wearing lenses, and other methods, may be able to get visual acuity.
If there is a high degree of astigmatism caused by conical cornea, in the advanced stage of the disease, there will be corneal perforation endophthalmitis and so on, without timely and effective treatment, there may be blindness or even atrophy of the eyeball.
It is recommended that for high astigmatism and sudden or continuous decline in vision, timely medical treatment, improve optometry corneal topography and other auxiliary examinations, and wear lenses to correct the specific situation.
