The Chinese herb Radix Platycodon grandiflorus is effective in promoting lung, pharyngeal, expectorant, and pus drainage, and is clinically well suited for the treatment of respiratory related diseases, like chronic bronchitis, lung abscess, and also obstructive emphysema and bronchial asthma. It can be used to treat patients with cough, phlegm, hoarseness, spitting up thick sputum, as well as chest tightness and dyspnea. Clinically, Eustoma’s is often combined with other herbs, especially applied to some anti-inflammatory and phlegm-eliminating drugs such as Jin Yin Hua and Da Qing Ye. For the adjunctive treatment of respiratory tract diseases, especially for old phlegm, which is very sticky on the tracheal wall and cannot be easily coughed out, the application of Eustoma is very effective. The main contraindication of Eryngium is that patients with prolonged physical weakness resulting in hemoptysis are not able to apply Eryngium, and then there is obvious weakness of the spleen and stomach, and some adverse symptoms such as vomiting after eating are also absolutely contraindicated.
