How long to stuff gauze after anal fistula surgery

Gauze is recommended to be stuffed for at least a week or so after anal fistula surgery, with 2-3 additional changes during that time. An anal fistula is a granulomatous tube around the rectum, and the common surgical procedures are fistulotomy, hanging wire therapy, etc. After anal fistula surgery it is recommended to eat a light diet with fresh vegetables or fruits rich in vitamins and water to help the fistula incision heal. It is also advisable to clean the anus carefully after defecation, wipe with a wet tissue or rinse with warm water to prevent bacteria from growing in the anus and causing secondary infection. Avoid spicy and stimulating foods, take plenty of water and keep the stool clear to avoid wound rupture caused by dry stool, and take more vitamin C to promote rapid wound healing.
