After gastrectomy for benign lesions such as gastric ulcer, patients can obtain long-term survival. However, survival after gastrectomy is closely related to the stage of gastric cancer. After radical surgery for early gastric cancer, survival can be 5-10 years or even more than 10 years. The survival time after gastrectomy depends on different conditions and depends on the reason of gastrectomy surgery. Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer and other lesions leading to gastrectomy only remove the diseased tissues, which has little impact on life expectancy and patients can obtain long-term survival. With early gastric cancer surgery and postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy, most patients can also survive for more than 5-10 years or even obtain long-term survival. For stage II and III progressive gastric cancer, the 5-year survival rate after surgery may be about 40%, and the earlier the stage, the better the prognosis. The survival rate after gastrectomy is not only related to the success of surgery, but also closely related to the patient’s physical condition, mentality and postoperative diet. After surgery, patients with gastric cancer need to take adjuvant treatment according to the situation and pay attention to regular review of stomach condition.
