What does visible lymphatic portal mean

Lymphatic gates are normal physiologic structures of the lymph nodes, and they are seen as normal under ultrasound examination. Normal lymph nodes are oval or fava bean shaped, with one end protruding and connecting to the incoming lymphatic vessels, and the other end slightly depressed, i.e., forming a lymphatic hilar structure, which connects to the outgoing lymphatic vessels. Under normal circumstances, the lymphatic gates and internal lymphatic structures are visible on ultrasound. If the structure of the lymphatic hilum is not clear, it often suggests that the lymph node has undergone pathological changes, which is most commonly seen in infectious or neoplastic lesions, such as lymphadenitis, lymphatic tuberculosis, lymphatic tumors, and so on. Therefore, it is normal to see lymphatic vessels, but if the structure of lymphatic vessels is not clear or disappeared, it is necessary to go to the hospital for further examination, including blood routine, lymph node puncture biopsy, etc., in order to find the cause of the disease, and according to the results of the examination to formulate the next step of the treatment plan.
