Is gastrointestinal decompression with a jejunostomy effective?

  Is jejunostomy line gastrointestinal decompression effective? This is what many jejunostomy line patients want to know. Today we ask experts to tell you?  In 66 patients with esophageal and gastric cardia cancer, gastrointestinal decompression was performed via jejunostomy after surgery, and liquid diet was pushed through the jejunostomy tube after 72 hours. Results: All patients had their jejunostomy tubes removed 16-20 days after surgery, and their average weight at discharge was 5.9 kg lower than that before surgery, which was not statistically significant (P>0.05); no wound dehiscence or anastomotic fistula occurred; postoperative hospitalization cost was greatly reduced.  Suggestion: jejunostomy with gastrointestinal decompression and tube feeding nutrition therapy can effectively prevent postoperative malnutrition anastomotic fistula and reduce hospitalization cost.
