Povidone Iodine, known generically as povidone iodine, has a wide range of uses, including the treatment of suppurative dermatitis, fungal skin infections, small mild burns and the disinfection of mucosal wounds.
Povidone Iodine is a topical antiseptic consisting of povidone iodine and purified water. Its wide range of uses for a variety of bacteria, spores, viruses and fungi have the effect of killing. Clinically, it can be used to treat suppurative dermatitis, fungal skin infections, minor burns, and also used to disinfect small skin and mucous membrane wounds.
After using povidone iodine in some patients, there is a slight transient irritation of the mucous membrane of the wound, which can be disappeared after a few moments, without special treatment. Allergic to the product, pregnant and lactating women should be prohibited from use. If there is burning sensation, redness and swelling at the site of application, the drug should be discontinued and the local drug should be washed off, and if necessary, the physician should be consulted.
