How long can you live with advanced bile duct cancer?

Bile duct cancer is a kind of digestive tract tumor with high malignancy. Most of the patients are already in advanced stage when they are discovered and cannot undergo active surgical treatment, and their overall survival period is about 3-6 months. Although such patients cannot undergo surgery, they can take other treatments to improve their quality of life, such as implanting stents to relieve jaundice and prolong their lives. There is another kind of patients with recurrence and metastasis of bile duct cancer, at this time, the treatment means are limited and the survival period is relatively short. However, in case of acute obstructive septic cholangitis, death may occur within hours to days if effective drainage cannot be performed in time. Although there are individual differences in the patients’ own constitution and different degrees of sensitivity and tolerance to drugs, their survival can be appropriately prolonged if the patients are better treated and cared for later.
