Precautions before blood lipid testing

Blood lipid examination has been a necessary item in adult physical examination, in which each item in blood lipid examination can be affected by many factors, especially diet. Therefore, before the blood test, patients need to make various preparations to avoid some patients’ inaccurate blood lipid test results due to their lack of understanding of the preparations before the test, which may affect the judgment of their condition and increase unnecessary psychological burden. What can be done to ensure more reliable test results? 1.Rational control of diet Big wine and meat are not advisable. You cannot eat within 12 hours before blood sampling, drink water within 8 hours, drink alcohol within 3 days, and eat animal food because animal offal, brain, bone marrow and fat are high in cholesterol, and the fat in these foods as well as alcohol can have a temporary effect on the increase of blood lipids. 2, beware of drug interference Certain drugs for coronary heart disease can lower cholesterol and triglycerides; vitamin A and vitamin D can raise cholesterol; nitroglycerin and mannitol can raise triglycerides. Some studies have shown that women taking oral contraceptives have significantly higher LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Therefore, do not take these drugs within 2 to 3 days before the blood draw. 3, moderate fitness exercise 2 to 3 days before the blood test do not do vigorous fitness exercise, such as running, playing ball, jumping, etc.. This is because too much exercise will increase the lipase activity in the fat and lower the blood lipids accordingly, which will also have an effect on the lab results.
