Xiao Jianzhong Tang should not be used by those who vomit or are full in the middle; it is contraindicated in treating stomach pain due to yin deficiency and fire (deficiency of yin essence in the body and the appearance of hyperactive deficiency fire), and incorrect use may delay or aggravate the condition or cause adverse reactions such as diarrhea and vomiting.
Xiao Jian Zhong Tang is a formula composed of caramel, cinnamon sticks, peony, ginger, jujube and roasted licorice. This formula is used to treat the syndrome of deficiency and coldness in the middle jiao, and disharmony between the liver and spleen (the liver and spleen cannot work in harmony).
It treats clinical manifestations such as constricted (body spasm and convulsion due to feeling wind-cold) pain in the abdomen, liking warmth and pressing, fatigue (mental exhaustion and body weakness), deficiency and timidity with little qi; or palpitation in the heart, restlessness in deficiency and vexation (vexation caused by deficiency heat in the body), and colorlessness in the face; or accompanied by soreness of the limbs, vexation and heat in the hands and feet (vexation and sultriness), and dryness in the pharynx and the mouth.
It is recorded that this formula is contraindicated for patients with gastrointestinal pain caused by deficiency of Yin and exuberance of fire, and should not be used by those who vomit or have mid-fullness (distention and fullness of the abdomen). Incorrect administration may delay or aggravate the condition, or cause adverse reactions such as diarrhea and vomiting.
Patients should use the medicine under medical supervision and should not take it blindly by themselves.
