There is no direct correlation between tonsillectomy or not and the development of psoriasis. A specific type of psoriasis, punctate psoriasis, is associated with upper respiratory tract infections, especially in those with post-tonsillitis onset. However, psoriasis is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory, systemic, immune-mediated disease induced by a combination of genetics and the environment, and other pathogenic factors are associated with infections, stress, surgery, pregnancy, alcoholism, obesity, smoking, and the effects of certain drugs.
