The cure rate for grade 1 to 2 chondrosarcoma is 90% 5-year survival for grade I and 81% 5-year survival for grade II. Grade 1 chondrosarcoma is low malignancy and grade 2 is moderately malignant. The prognosis of chondrosarcoma depends on two factors: histologic grading and surgical resection borders. Chondrosarcomas occurring in the extremities have a better prognosis than those in the trunk bone. grade 1 chondrosarcoma sarcomas have a 5-year survival rate of approximately 90%. Metastasis usually does not occur, and local recurrence can occur if resection is inadequate. Grade 2 chondrosarcoma sarcoma is slow-growing and may have histologic features without highly malignant features, with a 5-year survival rate of approximately 81% after surgical resection. Chondrosarcoma usually recurs 5 to 10 years after surgery. The cure rate of chondrosarcoma grade 1 to 2 is decided according to the grading of the tumor and the degree of surgical resection.
