Lowering qi and resolving phlegm is mainly a treatment method of treating phlegm-dampness obstruction and upward reversal of lung qi with medicines that lower lung qi and resolve phlegm-dampness.
Lung qi upturn will appear cough, cough and asthma, phlegm-dampness obstruction of the lungs can also be manifested as coughing and phlegm, pale mouth without thirst or thirst for hot drinks, white and greasy tongue coating, slippery pulse, and so on. For this kind of disease, the clinical treatment is to dry dampness and resolve phlegm (expelling dampness by drying dampness and resolving phlegm), and lowering the qi to stop coughing. Commonly used prescriptions are Er Chen Tang combined with Su Zi Descending Qi Tang.
The formula of Er Chen Tang combining Su Zi Descending Qi Tang consists of Chen Pi, Poria, Pinellia, Pinellia, Su Zi, Radix et Rhizoma Pinelliae, Radix et Rhizoma Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Cinnamomum Cassiae, and Radix Ginger. The adverse effects and contraindications of the drug are not clear.
