Can I drink alcohol if I take amoxicillin?

It is absolutely not allowed to drink alcohol after taking amoxicillin, no matter what kind of dosage form amoxicillin is, injectable, oral dosage form or bulk oral dosage, it is not allowed to drink alcohol after taking it, because amoxicillin belongs to β-lactam class of drugs, and chemical reaction will occur between the drug and alcohol, the chemical reaction is called disulfiram-like reaction. Disulfiram-like reactions may cause allergic symptoms, such as red skin, rash, itchiness, heat pain, and joint rash may fuse into pieces; in severe cases, circulatory system symptoms may occur, such as tachycardia, arrhythmia, chest tightness, shortness of breath, palpitations and other adverse reactions; in the most serious cases, neurological symptoms such as dizziness, headache, transient loss of consciousness or even unconsciousness, unconsciousness, pale skin, and rapid pulse rate, blood pressure measurement. Therefore, it is not allowed to drink amoxicillin.
