Blepharitis, also known as blepharoconjunctivitis, is a purulent inflammatory disease caused by bacterial infection of the eyelid glands. Blepharitis is mainly due to bacterial infection, and is categorized as external blepharitis and internal blepharitis, with slightly different manifestations, but with similar symptoms, such as redness and swelling of the eyelids, accompanied by a painful sensation. Blepharitis is mostly caused by staphylococcus bacteria. If the patient often rubs the eyes with dirty hands, the bacteria may enter the eyelash roots from the lid margin opening of the blepharoplasty gland, leading to infection of the blepharoplasty and sebaceous glands and blepharitis. Blepharitis can also occur if the patient does not remove makeup for a long period of time and uses expired cosmetics and eye creams, resulting in poor eyelid hygiene and staphylococcal infection of the eyelids. It is recommended that patients with blepharitis seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow their doctor’s instructions.
