Where to Treat Dampness with Moxibustion

Acupuncture and moxibustion at Zhongshu Point, Shenque Point, Shusanli Point, and Yinlingquan Point can treat heavy dampness. Patients with heavy dampness may have symptoms such as weight and waist pain, sleepiness in the limbs, and joint and muscle pain. 1. Middle Epigastric Point: Located in the upper abdomen, 4 inches above the umbilicus, on the anterior midline. It is used for treating stomach pain, abdominal distension, nausea (lack of appetite, reduced food intake), vomiting, acid swallowing (swallowing acid from the stomach that rushes up to the oropharynx), hiccups (hiccups), and noma (a kind of chronic disease of children, which is characterized by emaciation of the body, abnormal eating and drinking, abdominal distension, and sparse and yellowish hair, etc.). 2. Shenque point: located in the umbilical region, in the center of the umbilicus. It is used for treating deficiency, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, diarrhea, dysentery, constipation, edema, and dysuria. 3. Foot Sanli Point: located on the lateral side of the lower leg, 3 inches below the calf’s nose, 1 transverse finger outside the anterior ridge of the tibia, on the line between the calf’s nose and Xiexi. Mainly treats stomach pain, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, dysentery, constipation, lower limb impotence paralysis (lower limb weakness, numbness and pain), carbuncle (red, swollen and painful breasts, poor milk discharge, and ultimately the formation of septic diseases). 4. Yinlingquan Point: Located on the inner side of the lower leg, in the depression between the lower edge of the medial condyle of the tibia and the medial edge of the tibia. It is used for treating abdominal distension, diarrhea, edema, jaundice, dysuria, enuresis, urinary incontinence, pubic pain, dysmenorrhea, spermatorrhea, and knee pain.
