How to treat multiple polypoid lesions of the gallbladder

Some gallbladder polyps can be followed up with regular ultrasound, while others may require timely surgical treatment, preferring laparoscopic cholecystectomy. What kind of treatment is needed for multiple gallbladder polyps is mainly based on the specific conditions of gallbladder polyps. Currently recognized indications for surgery include gallbladder polyps with a diameter of more than 1 cm, very rapid growth in a short period of time, solitary broad-based polyps or more obvious clinical symptoms, or a combination of gallbladder stones. However, many gallbladder polyps are small in diameter and do not have clinical symptoms, so a healthy lifestyle can be given, and it is recommended that the gallbladder ultrasound be repeated every six months or once a year. For patients suspected of having gallbladder cancer after cholecystectomy, intraoperative rapid pathologic examination should also be performed. For gallbladder cancer limited to the mucosal layer, cholecystectomy can be performed. If the cancer has invaded the muscular layer, radical treatment should be carried out, including cholecystectomy, partial resection of liver and lymph node dissection, and even partial resection of extrahepatic bile ducts and bile-intestinal anastomosis.
