1.2 cm mixed ground glass nodule will not metastasize

Whether a 1.2 cm mixed density ground glass nodule will metastasize depends on its nature; metastasis may be more likely if it is a primary malignant nodule, and benign nodules will not metastasize. A pulmonary ground-glass nodule is an imaging concept that refers to a round or roundish hyperdense image less than 3 cm in diameter, which can be solid, ground-glass or mixed density. Common benign nodules include inflammatory nodules, tuberculous nodules, pulmonary nodular disease, and infected nodules, while benign nodules do not metastasize. Mixed-density ground-glass nodules in the lungs may also be malignant, including primary lung cancer or metastatic lung tumors. Most primary lung cancers of 1.2 cm are in the early stages and usually have not yet metastasized, but metastasis can occur as the disease progresses. Metastatic lung tumors refer to malignant tumors in other parts of the body that have metastasized to the lungs. The presence of lung metastases indicates that the tumor is already in an advanced stage and treatment is more difficult. Patients with 1.2 cm mixed density ground-glass nodules are advised to go to the hospital as soon as possible to have the nature of the nodules clarified and then treated accordingly.
