The presence of strong echogenic dots in both the right and left ventricles is often detected by ultrasound during a physical examination during pregnancy. The strong echogenic dots are a sonographic manifestation that is neither indicative of congenital heart disease nor suggestive of cardiac anomalies, and further investigation is needed to determine this.
The presence of a strong echogenic spot should be further evaluated in the hospital with a fetal heart ultrasound to detect any structural heart abnormalities. Systematic tests such as serologic tests and genetic screening can be completed as recommended by the doctor. The genes are used to rule out specific genetic disorders in the fetus.
In general with the increase of pregnancy, most of the strong spots will decrease or even disappear, very few still exist after birth.
