A child’s vision is 4.8 depending on the age of the child. If the child is around four years old, a 4.8 vision is relatively normal. If the child is 5-6 years old or older, 4.8 vision is somewhat low. Generally, at the age of 5-6, a child’s vision should be around 5.0, or even 5.1-5.2 or more, because a child’s crystal and fundus are relatively good. If the vision is indeed 4.8 after examination, it should be treated with optometry. If the child is particularly young, a slow optometry with atropine or a fast optometry with Safeguard is also required. The refractive error will be obtained after the optometry. If it is a relatively small degree of hyperopia, the vision loss may be due to fatigue and only needs to be observed and then reviewed for visual acuity. If you are highly farsighted or have low myopia, you will need glasses for vision correction to improve your vision. Regular follow-up is also required to determine the change in prescription and the improvement in visual acuity.
