What is the cause of elevated alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, and glutamyltransferase?

Alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, and glutamyltransferase are all elevated primarily due to liver cell damage and are associated with liver disease. Alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, and glutamyltransferase are indicators of liver function tests. These enzymes are mainly found in liver cells, and when liver cells are damaged, they are released into the bloodstream from damaged liver cells, and therefore can reflect the damage of liver cells to a certain extent. Damaged liver cells are mostly seen in patients with liver diseases, such as viral hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis, drug-induced hepatitis, fatty liver, cirrhosis, etc., which may cause elevation of liver enzymes. Patients with elevated alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and glutamyltransferase should go to the hospital in time, under the guidance of the doctor for testing, to clarify the cause of the disease, and active treatment.
