What is the stage IIA of gastric cancer?

The stage IIA of gastric cancer is progressive gastric cancer, which is the most common stage of gastric cancer in China. Once diagnosed, most of the patients are recommended to undergo radical resection of gastric cancer and first-line chemotherapy. After surgery, patients usually have a good prognosis. The 5-year survival rate is usually higher with regular gastroscopy and improvement of diet and lifestyle habits as prescribed by doctors. The pathological staging according to stage IIA can be divided into the following three types: first, malignant tumor of the stomach has invaded the intrinsic mucosal muscle layer and submucosal layer of the stomach, with metastasis of 3-6 surrounding regional lymph nodes. Secondly, the gastric tumor has infiltrated into the intrinsic muscular layer of the gastric sinus and is accompanied by 1-2 regional lymph node metastases. Thirdly, the tumor has penetrated into the subplasmic connective tissue, but no invasion of surrounding tissue structures and organs is seen, and it is not accompanied by metastasis of surrounding lymph nodes. The above three types can be called stage IIA of gastric cancer.
