First aid for choking

First aid for choking includes inducing vomiting, drinking large amounts of water, and the Heimlich maneuver. The so-called “choking” may include two situations, one is the food swallowing process is difficult, the food is in the esophagus, choking need to find a way to let the food spit out or down into the stomach. The other is when a foreign body enters the respiratory tract and causes an obstruction. This is a more dangerous situation because it can lead to choking, and first aid is needed to get rid of the foreign body. 1. Induce vomiting: If you are choking on your food, you can squeeze the patient’s stomach or stimulate the throat, which can generally promote induced vomiting, thus discharging the food. 2. Drink a lot of water: choking may also be caused by the food is too dry and hard, at this time you can moderately increase the amount of water, the food may be with the water slowly into the stomach, so as to alleviate the symptoms. 3. Heimlich Maneuver: If you feel that you are choking, and you are not breathing well or even suffocating, you should adopt the Heimlich Maneuver. The rescuer stands behind the patient, separates the patient’s legs from the patient’s back, and places the rescuer’s leg in the middle of the two legs; make the patient half-sit on the rescuer’s leg. Find the patient’s navel, one hand fist will be placed on the side of the tiger’s mouth in the patient’s navel just above the position of the 2 horizontal fingers, the other hand open wrapped in the patient’s navel on the fist, both hands to the top of the inward fast, strong impact compression of its abdomen, repeated rhythmic, forceful, to the formation of the airflow to the foreign body flushed out. Be careful to observe whether the foreign body is flushed out, foreign body discharged in time to check the patient’s respiratory heartbeat, such as the patient’s respiratory heartbeat has disappeared, should immediately implement cardiopulmonary resuscitation. If the patient’s respiration and heartbeat have disappeared, CPR should be performed immediately. If the symptoms persist, consult a doctor.
