Sudden edema of both feet should be considered as cardiogenic edema, lower extremity venous valve insufficiency, malnutritional edema, inflammatory edema and so on.
1. Cardiogenic edema: patients with heart failure will have edema of both feet at the same time, but heart failure will be accompanied by other symptoms, such as not being able to lie down at night, and shortness of breath after a little activity, which can be diagnosed by ultrasound examination of the heart.
2. Double lower extremity venous valve insufficiency: it is caused by high pressure in the distal veins due to valve regurgitation, which leads to the exudation of fluids from the veins and causes edema in the surrounding tissues.
The main characteristic is that it is light in the morning and heavy in the evening, and it will be aggravated gradually with the prolongation of the time of going down to the ground. Usually, it will be relieved after the affected limbs are elevated or lying down and resting, and a clear diagnosis can be obtained through the ultrasound examination of the veins of the lower limbs.
3. Dystrophic edema: hypo-proteinemia caused by malnutrition sometimes causes edema of interstitial fluid. There is a history of obvious wasting disease, and the albumin can be significantly reduced by blood test.
4. Inflammatory edema: such as aseptic inflammation of the ankle, including allergic arthritis, reactive arthritis and so on. Due to the inflammation of the tissue permeability increases, so that the blood or water in the blood vessels penetrate into the interstitial fluid, the formation of the lower limbs obvious edema.
Sudden edema of the feet has a complex etiology, it is still recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible for consultation, identify the cause, and carry out the appropriate treatment.
