The measures that should be taken for febrile convulsions include transferring the patient, avoiding aspiration, maintaining basic vital signs, symptomatic cooling and sedation, and treating the cause of the illness.
1. Transferring patients: when finding patients with febrile convulsions (convulsive seizures caused by high fever), first of all, patients should be transferred to a cool and ventilated environment immediately, which is conducive to heat dissipation of patients.
2. Avoid aspiration: keep the patient in the anti-aspiration position with the head tilted to one side, and clean the secretions in the mouth, and send the patient to the doctor for treatment quickly.
3. Maintain basic vital signs: detect blood pressure, respiration, pulse, blood oxygen and other basic vital signs, and actively replenish fluids to correct water and electrolyte disorders.
4. Symptomatic cooling and sedation treatment: apply non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen to lower the temperature; apply diazepam, phenobarbital and other sedative treatment.
5. Treatment for the cause: for high fever caused by bacterial infection, penicillin, cefradine, tetracycline, azithromycin and other antibacterial drugs can be applied; for viral infection high fever, oseltamivir, ribavirin and other treatments can be applied.
The use of drugs must follow the doctor’s instructions, not blindly use their own drugs, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
