What’s wrong with farting after a gastroscopy?

Farting all the time after gastroscopy is mostly a normal phenomenon, which is related to the injection of gas during gastroscopy. During gastroscopy, a small amount of carbon dioxide will be injected into the digestive tract, which may cause accumulation of gas in the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in farting all the time after gastroscopy; or the gastroscope may stimulate the digestive tract, causing nausea, abdominal distension, and increased farting.
Carbon dioxide will be injected into the digestive tract during gastroscopy to keep the stomach in a dilated state, thus obtaining a better observation field under the microscope, thus reducing the rate of missed diagnosis.
If you keep farting after gastroscopy, it is recommended to have a light diet with more easily digestible food such as millet porridge, noodles, steamed bread, etc. Avoid spicy and stimulating, cold and greasy food such as spicy hot pot, coffee, fried chicken, alcohol, strong tea, ice cream, etc., so as not to irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa and increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract, which may cause or aggravate the symptoms of abdominal distension and farting.
After gastroscopy, farting persists unrelieved, or accompanied by abdominal pain, diarrhea and other symptoms, it is recommended to consult a doctor in order to clarify the diagnosis, under the guidance of the doctor for targeted treatment.
