What does granulation tissue mean?

Granulation tissue is a newborn tissue containing capillary nerves and fibroblasts, usually accompanied by inflammation. Granulation tissue is often found on traumatized skin, and unhealthy granulation tissue can develop if the wound is locally infected, or if a foreign body is present. This is when the granulation needs to be removed and the wound disinfected and debrided to help the wound heal properly. Granulation tissue usually appears when the wound is about three days old, so the patient should observe the wound when changing the medication, and should go to the hospital for treatment in case of any special condition. For wounds that are relatively large and appear infected and ulcerated, they must not be treated on their own and need to be debrided under the operation of a professional doctor to avoid aggravating the infection.
