Fibroidectomy is usually not performed during menstruation.
Uterine fibroids are benign tumors formed by the proliferation of uterine smooth muscle tissue. Myomectomy is usually performed on patients who wish to retain their reproductive function, and is mostly performed via open or laparoscopic resection.
During menstruation, women’s immunity is lower, and the body’s blood clotting function is reduced, during menstruation, surgical myomectomy is easy to cause bleeding, and may make the patient’s lower abdominal distension, pain and other menstrual discomfort more obvious, which is not conducive to postoperative recovery.
In addition, during menstruation, the pelvic cavity is in a state of congestion, and if the myomectomy is performed, it is easy to bring pathogenic bacteria from outside the body into the pelvic cavity, increasing the risk of pelvic infection. Therefore, myomectomy should not be performed during menstruation.
Myomectomy can be performed during non-menstrual period, and after the surgery, you need to pay attention to personal hygiene, prohibit sexual intercourse and pelvic bath within three months, and follow the doctor’s instructions for regular follow-up.
