Does Finasteride hurt the liver?

Finasteride is generally not harmful to the liver. Finasteride is a medication that can treat and control BPH as well as prevent urologic events, and its use can shrink an enlarged prostate, improve urine flow, and symptoms associated with prostate enlargement. The drug is metabolized by the liver, and elevated liver enzymes have been reported after its introduction to the market. However, Finasteride is generally not harmful to the liver. The instructions for use of the drug do not indicate that the drug will harm the liver, or that people with hepatic insufficiency need to use it with caution or adjust the dose of the drug. Therefore, finasteride is not hepatotoxic and does not generally harm the liver. Finasteride is well tolerated, but studies have shown that the use of the drug may cause breast discomfort, skin rash and sexual function affected by adverse reactions; allergic to finasteride, women, children should be prohibited. Precautions should be taken before using finasteride to consider other urologic conditions that may cause similar symptoms, and to be aware that benign prostatic hyperplasia may coexist with prostate cancer. Men can not abuse Finasteride on their own, the use of medication should strictly follow the doctor’s instructions, consumption of discomfort, timely consultation, active treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
