What to do if your lung ruptures

If the lung rupture occurs and the bleeding is heavy, it is necessary to perform surgery quickly to stop the bleeding. If the bleeding is in a suitable location, a thoracoscopic approach can be used to stop the bleeding. If the location of the bleeding is less suitable, it is better to use open-heart surgery, which is more intuitive and can stop the bleeding. In addition, lung rupture can also cause pneumothorax condition. If the degree of pneumothorax is not too big, absolute bed rest can be performed, and then symptomatic treatment medications can be used. For example, if you have a cough, you can use cough suppressants. If the pain is severe, pain medication can be used; if the degree of pneumothorax is large and the compression of the lung exceeds 20%, pulmonary suction treatment can be performed to prevent further lung compression and facilitate lung expansion; if it is a tension pneumothorax, closed chest drainage is needed; if the degree of pneumothorax is large, surgical treatment is needed.
