Can blue light therapy treat stomach ulcers?

Sina health news according to the British “Daily Mail” reported on July 20, a new U.S. study found that the use of light rods that can emit blue light can treat stomach ulcers. The blue light can kill the harmful bacteria H. pylori that causes stomach ulcers and most stomach cancers. H. pylori lives in the protective gastric mucosal layer of the stomach lining. Not everyone infected with the bacteria gets a stomach ulcer, but once an ulcer occurs, H. pylori destroys the protective layer of the gastric mucosa, causing a host of indigestion symptoms. The new treatment uses a very thin hose that is inserted into the stomach through the patient’s throat, and then uses fiber optics to give the stomach a “blue light bath” (blue light exposure). The principle of blue light therapy is that blue light can be absorbed by a complex of germs, and a chemical reaction occurs, which effectively kills the germs. Researchers say that blue light therapy for gastric ulcers is very effective, and does not have adverse effects on other tissues of the body.
