How to treat sternocleidomastoid strabismus

Sternocleidomastoid muscle strabismus can be treated by the following methods: first, conservative treatment, patients within six months of birth are suitable for conservative treatment, which can be localized hot compresses, massage maneuvers to correct, and bed fixation. Second, surgical treatment, for patients over one year old, the contracture and deformity of the sternocleidomastoid muscle is obvious, conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment can be used. There are usually four commonly used methods, i.e. sternocleidomastoid myotomy, sternocleidomastoid myotomy release, sternocleidomastoid muscle lengthening and sternocleidomastoid myotomy. After surgery, the head and neck should be placed in an overcorrected position and immobilized with a plaster neck collar or external fixation support for 6-8 weeks before removing the external fixation and performing functional neck exercises. With the above treatment, complete cure of sternocleidomastoid strabismus can be achieved.
