Find out how high your risk of stroke is

Stroke, commonly referred to as “stroke”, is a group of acute cerebrovascular diseases, including cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, and subarachnoid hemorrhage, which are acute or focal brain dysfunction caused by various vascular causes (including hemorrhage and ischemia) lasting more than 24 hours. When the blood flow supplying the human brain is impaired, including obstruction of blood vessels (called ischemic stroke) and ruptured blood vessels and bleeding (called hemorrhagic stroke), it causes brain cells to be unable to obtain oxygen supply and nutrients to maintain normal activities, and some brain cells are damaged or die, which is clinically known as stroke. According to statistics, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in China. Stroke is one of the most serious cerebrovascular diseases. Every year, about 2 million new strokes occur in China, and nearly half of them die. Among stroke survivors, about 3/4 of the patients have sequelae (e.g. hemiplegia, etc.) that lead to varying degrees of incapacity, and about 40% of them are severely disabled. Assessment: see how high your risk of stroke The following 8 risk factors can be used as indicators for stroke risk assessment in middle-aged people (for people over 40 years old) 1. history of hypertension, or taking antihypertensive drugs; 2. atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat); 3. smoking; 4. dyslipidemia; 5. diabetes; 6. lack of exercise; 7. significant overweight or obesity; 8. family history of stroke. The more risk factors above, the greater the risk of stroke. Intermediate risk: Those with one of hypertension, diabetes, or atrial fibrillation have an intermediate risk of stroke risk assessment. High risk: Those with one of the following three conditions have a stroke risk assessment of high risk. 1. the presence of three or more of the above eight risk factors; 2. a history of previous stroke; 3. a history of previous transient ischemic attack. If, after the above simple assessment, you turn out to be in the middle-risk or high-risk group for stroke, you need to act quickly and go to the hospital in time to take targeted measures to actively prevent stroke under the guidance of your doctor.
