Hypertension is the first risk factor for cardiovascular disease in China and one of the most important causes of death worldwide. According to authoritative statistics, the prevalence of hypertension in China is 29.6%, while the knowledge rate, treatment rate and control rate are only 42.6%, 34.1% and 9.3% respectively, and the rate of patients receiving antihypertensive treatment is 27.4%, which is obviously lower than that in developed countries and regions. At present, there are 10 million new cases of hypertension in China every year, and the number of hypertensive patients has reached 300 million. In fact, a lot of hypertension has genetic factors involved. A large number of studies have proved that hypertension is a polygenic hereditary disease. Through the investigation of family lineage of hypertension patients, it is found that the probability of children suffering from hypertension is as high as 45% if both parents suffer from hypertension; the probability of children suffering from hypertension is 28% if one of the parents suffers from hypertension; and the probability of children suffering from hypertension is only 3% if both parents’ blood pressure is normal. This suggests that controlling high blood pressure starts with the baby. It tells you that a higher body mass index (BMI) in childhood affects the development of hypertension in adulthood, and in particular leads to a higher incidence of gestational hypertension in women in adulthood. High blood pressure genetics can be both prevented and cured. Antihypertensive treatment should not only work on dilating blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. It is more important to emphasize on genetic fitness checking and correcting bad lifestyle habits. Hypertension is not just a disease, but an important signal or phenomenon, suggesting that an auto-regulatory function in the body is weakening, and that many high blood pressures can be completely controlled if certain undesirable factors are corrected in a timely manner.
