How long does it take for herpes to heal

Herpes is divided into herpes simplex and herpes zoster, which generally require 7-10 days of treatment to gradually heal. Herpes simplex is prone to recurrence, while herpes zoster can lead to post-herpetic neuralgia in some patients, which can last from several months to several years. Antiviral treatment must be administered promptly after the onset of herpes to reduce the chances of sequelae. It is important to note that antiviral treatment of herpes zoster must be accompanied by symptomatic treatment such as nerve nutrition and pain relief. In case of long-term neuralgia, nerve nutrition and pain relief should be the main treatment. Patients with herpes should avoid spicy and stimulating food, tobacco and alcohol, cold and flu, topical mupirocin ointment if necessary to prevent bacterial infection, and avoid contact with water until healed. In addition, herpes simplex is recurrent, while herpes zoster is generally immune for life and rarely recurs.
