How long does it usually take to give birth to your first child with oxytocin?

Oxytocin injections for the first pregnancy will usually start labor in about 24 hours, depending on the individual’s constitution.
Oxytocin is a type of peptide contraction, which helps labor mainly by promoting uterine smooth muscle contraction. Because of the different body types of individuals, the time of labor after oxytocin injection is different. For oxytocin-sensitive body types, labor usually starts around 24 hours after oxytocin is administered for the first birth. Some women who are not sensitive to oxytocin medication may not go into labor for more than 24 hours after injection.
Oxytocin must be injected in the right amount. Too large a dose may cause strong contractions, resulting in impaired blood flow, causing insufficient blood and oxygen supply to the fetus in the uterus, and may even lead to uterine rupture.
Whether oxytocin is needed or not, it should be used under the guidance of doctor’s assessment to avoid adverse effects on the body.
