What does a positive exercise load test mean?

Positive exercise load test means that during the exercise load test, the ST-segment depression of the ECG indicates myocardial ischemia, and this phenomenon is called positive exercise load test.
Exercise loading test is to let the patient ride a bicycle after connecting the ECG leads, during exercise, the body’s oxygen consumption increases, the load on the heart increases, and myocardial ischemia is easier to be detected, and the ECG changes of the patient are recorded during the exercise process.
If the patient has not very serious coronary artery stenosis or obstruction, usually there may be no obvious symptoms, but exercise load test can induce more significant myocardial ischemia, at this time the electrocardiogram will usually show ST-segment depression suggesting that myocardial hypoxia, which is the case of positive exercise load test. In this case, the patient should be instructed to stop exercising and undergo subsequent coronary angiography.
Most of the patients with positive exercise stress test have coronary heart disease or angina pectoris, and a few of them may be caused by other diseases. It is recommended that patients with positive exercise stress test should complete the follow-up treatment in time and get the cause of the disease clarified under the guidance of the doctor.
