How old should a baby be for hernia surgery?

Patient: Infant, 6 months old, found on 2008.02.08, laboratory test, external inguinal hernia, how old should the infant be for surgical treatment? Cai Qianrong, Department of Surgery, Zhejiang Tongde Hospital: Surgical treatment for external inguinal hernia in infants should be performed around 1 week of age. However, if the hernia mass comes out and cannot be retracted, it should be considered as embedded, which may lead to intestinal necrosis and should be seen in hospital in time, sometimes requiring emergency surgery. I am not sure which hospital is suitable for Jiangxi or Beijing, I am from Hangzhou, but generally the pediatric surgery in big hospitals can do it. The surgery is not big and can be discharged in a day or two or outpatient surgery.
