A lumbar herniated disc is diagnosed and treatment is determined by symptoms. If there are changes in imaging and no symptoms, it is called a herniated disc and does not require treatment; if there are symptoms, it is called a herniated disc and requires treatment. There are many treatment methods, but the fundamental one is to decide on the basis of the symptoms and physical condition of the patient. Generally, traction, physical therapy, medication, and infusion can be used. Surgery, including minimally invasive procedures such as discoscopy, may be considered if the results are unsatisfactory. Specific treatments can be decided on the advice of the treating doctor and in conjunction with the patient’s own condition.
