Timing of otitis media surgery

The timing of surgery differs for different otitis media: Surgery for simple otitis media needs to be performed in dry ear (no pus flow) for more than 3 months, but it is not absolute. For example, if the mucous membrane of the middle ear is chemotactic and forms more cells with secretory function, which regularly secrete mucus, and then there is an allergic reaction, it is difficult to completely dry the middle ear. In osteochondritis type otitis media with clear drainage, local medication is the mainstay, but attention should be paid to regular review. In osteochondritis type otitis media with poor drainage or suspected complications, and cholesteatoma type otitis media, modified mastoid radical surgery or mastoid radical surgery should be performed early to completely remove the lesion and prevent complications.
