Squamous cell carcinoma is a group of malignant tumours classified histologically and does not refer to a single malignant disease. It can occur in areas covered by squamous epithelium such as the skin, mouth, oesophagus, cervix and vagina, but also in the bronchi, bladder and renal pelvis.
