Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common diseases that plague humans today. Epidemiological surveys show that as many as 2/3 of people have experienced lower back pain in their lifetime, and it is the second most common cause of patients seeking medical care after the common cold. In the United States, the direct and indirect socio-economic losses caused by lower back pain exceed $100 billion annually. Although precise statistics are not yet available in China, the losses caused by the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and resulting loss of labor force of patients with lower back pain are also enormous. A precise pathological anatomical diagnosis has long been unavailable for approximately 85% of patients due to a lack of understanding of the pathogenesis of lower back pain. According to the latest medical guidelines, patients with low back pain should not rest for more than 2 days and should remain active. Controlled movement of the lumbar disc muscle groups can effectively stabilize the lumbar discs, which can speed recovery, enhance function and reduce recurrence. Recovery goals for low back pain: 1. control pain; 2. enhance lumbar stabilizing muscles, motor muscles and motor control; 3. restore stability of the lumbar spine; 4. restore normal mobility of the lumbar spine; 5. improve the patient’s quality of life and ability to work.
