The dorsalis pedis artery, also called the dorsalis pedis artery, is located on the body surface between the long toe extensor and the long lesser extensor muscles, specifically in the line between the thumb and the second toe of the foot, and can be palpated on the body surface by extending 1-2 cm in the direction of the calf. The dorsalis pedis artery is important in vascular surgery for palpation of the peripheral arteries because it is superficial and easy to palpate and can be used to initially determine the blood flow of the lower extremity. However, the dorsalis pedis artery is common in congenital defects, so the blood flow of the lower extremity cannot be determined by the dorsalis pedis artery alone, but by referring to the pulsations of other arteries, such as the posterior tibial artery.
